Tazabek — Kyrgyzstan continues to study the possibility of building a nuclear power plant and is negotiating with relevant companies and states. First Deputy Minister of Energy Kursant Omurbekov announced this on the radio.
“We should not live only for today. We need to plan 10, 20, 30 years ahead. Therefore, the construction of a nuclear power plant should not be ruled out either. We are negotiating with companies and states that build such stations, studying safety issues, cost, construction time and payback,” he said.
According to him, if a positive decision is made, the project must undergo public discussion and procedures provided for by law with the participation of the Jogorku Kenesh and government bodies.
