Women head almost 30% of commercial enterprises in the Kyrgyz Republic - Tazabek

Tazabek — Women head almost 30% of the country’s operating commercial enterprises, that’s more than 26 thousand companies. President of the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan Anvar Abdraev announced this at the signing ceremony of the National Charter of the Code of Financing for Women Entrepreneurs.

According to him, in an average business the share of female managers reaches almost 48%.

He added that the Union of Banks has been acting as a national coordinator of the code since April 2025: attracting signatories, organizing coalition meetings, collecting and monitoring participants’ reports on obligations and preparing the first report on their implementation. Target dates for assessing progress are set at 1 April and 1 October. At the initiative of the Union of Banks, a working group on managerial gender reporting was created.

As Abdraev reported, four meetings were held, and participants tested analytical forms using data from their organizations. The Union of Banks has developed pilot forms of gender analytics for products, personnel and remuneration. With the support of the EBRD, a seminar was held on creating financial and non-financial offers for women entrepreneurs.

According to Abdraev, based on the results of the analysis, women demonstrate high payment discipline and loyalty, and gender analytics helps financial organizations better understand the client segment. Systemic difficulties were also identified: the lack of a single gender indicator in operating systems, fragmented data and the difficulty of applying the national definition to legal entities.
