STS warns about fraud using AI - Tazabek

Tazabek — The State Customs Service warns citizens about the spread of fraudulent schemes using fake videos created using artificial intelligence technologies.

According to the State Customs Service, false information is being spread on social networks and instant messengers about the alleged sale of household and electronic appliances from customs warehouses.

The department reported that this information is not true, since customs authorities do not sell goods.

According to the State Customs Service, attackers create fake accounts on social networks and instant messengers, including WhatsApp and Telegram. In doing so, they use photographs, names and positions of management and customs officers.

False messages and announcements are disseminated on behalf of State Customs Service employees, the purpose of which is to arouse the trust of citizens and persuade them to comply with illegal demands or transfer funds.

The State Customs Service urges citizens to remain vigilant, not to trust dubious accounts, channels and groups, not to transfer personal and banking data, and to check information only through official sources.
